A $6.1 million dredging contract for GIWW

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a $6,147,750 contract to Goodloe Marine Inc., for pipeline dredging of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW), Texas, Channel to Victoria.

The main work of this contract is to remove 1.3 million cubic yards of material located along the lower and middle reached of the GIWW, Channel to Victoria. All dredged material will be placed along the channel. The purpose of dredging GIWW, Channel to Victoria is to provide an adequate depth for vessels navigating the channel. Estimated completion date will begin in July 2016 and end in December 2016.

The GIWW is an important safe harbor and essential component of the nation’s transportation network was established to provide support for commercial trade.
