Colombia: Navelana Consortium Awarded Magdalena River Dredging Contract

Colombia’s government has awarded a $1.33 billion contract to the Navelena consortium, led by Brazil’s Odebrecht SA, to improve navigability on the Magdalena River.

This deepening program will be carried out along a 908-kilometer stretch of the river between the town of Puerto Salgar and the Caribbean port city of Barranquilla.

The contract awarded to the Navelana consortium will involve construction of navigation channels, dredging and maintenance of the river over a period of 13.5 years.
