Port of Rauma Dredging Contract Awarded
Two major construction projects will start this month at the Port of Rauma, Finland.
The port and his partner’s forwarders, Finland will maximize the Rauma channel extended 10 to 12 meters.
WASA Dredging won this contract nominated for the channel deepening project.
At the same time, Port of Rauma will build more berths for container ships and a new storage area for containers, expanding the current container terminal. Destia Oy is the principal contractor appointed for the container terminal expansion project.
Environmental considerations play an important role in the implementation of both projects and the environmental impacts of the work on the marine environment are monitored throughout the project.
The share of Port of Rauma will cost about EUR 34 million and the share of the Finnish Transport Agency about EUR 28 million.
The work will be finished by the end of 2017.
