Recently, the port of Brisbane in Australia was caught in a strike. The Australian Maritime Union (MUA) is organizing the action, with a large number of Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union (CFMMEU) members responding from 8 January 2025.
The main reason behind this is that workers have long been dissatisfied with the stagnant pay and meager benefits under high-intensity work, and multiple rounds of negotiations with Qube Ports have been fruitless.
Affected by this impact, a large area of port operations paralyzed, containers piled up, cargo handling nearly stalled. Many enterprises that rely on the import and export of the port suffer, such as the export of agricultural products and mineral products are blocked, imported electronic parts and machinery and equipment are difficult to enter the port in time, and the international trade supply chain is on the verge of breaking, and the subsequent impact is still continuing to ferment.
