The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a contract to Weeks Marine Inc., worth $15,692,500 for the maintenance dredging of the Houston Ship Channel, Redfish Reef to Morgan’s Point.
Weeks Marine, Inc. operates as a proven leader in marine construction, dredging, and marine services. Weeks has successfully completed projects throughout North and South America, from inland waterways to off-shore sites in the Pacific and the Atlantic.
Contractors will remove approximately 2.3 million cubic yards of shoal material from the channels using a hydraulic pipeline dredge to ensure waterways remain open for navigation. The project is totally funded by the federal government, and the work is scheduled to begin in September 2016.
